Summer Ladder
Singles and Doubles
The Summer Ladder has been cancelled for
2008.
Summer
Ladder Rules
Fees:
There is no fee. Membership in the WTCNCC entitles you to
play in the Summer Ladder.
Time Period
1. The ladder will begin in May or June and
continue for 7 periods.
2.
Each time period will be 21 days and will
start on a Monday and end on a Sunday.
Eligibility
All players on the singles ladder must be WTCNCC members.
Getting on the Ladder
1. Contact the ladder coordinator to receive the list of players.
To begin each time period, the final standings from the previous
time period will be used.
2. To get on the ladder, simply call a player/team – up
to 5 spots above you on the list and challenge them. The
challenger will keep the same spot if they lose, but move 1 spot
ahead of the player/team they challenged if they win.
3. You must keep the same Doubles Partner for the 3 week time
period.
Rules
- Any challenger/team can challenge any
player/team on the ladder up to 5 spots above.
- The challenger must offer the defender 5
different times to play within the time period. If the defender
is unable to play at the offered times, the defender must then
offer five times to play.
- A refusal to play results in a default for
the defender and win for the challenger.
- The challenger is to make arrangements
for an agreed upon court time and location. Matches should be
played on a hard court surface unless other arrangements are
agreed upon. The challenger also supplies USTA or USLTA approved
balls.
Balls are to remain with the challenger after the match.
- All ladder players/teams much accept two
challenges per time period if made. In declining additional challenges,
the defender must give the names of the previous challengers
to the newest challenger. A player may accept other challenges
if she desires.
- You may not challenge the same person twice
in one time period.
- Additional matches played in the same time
period will not affect, nor be affected by, the previous matches
played. In other words, a challenge is made to take the position
held by the person/team at the beginning of the play period.
It is not to take any position she may have gained during
that time.
- Court fees, if any, are to be split equally.
Significant private court fees should not be imposed unless agreed
upon.
- The winner should call match scores into
a scorekeeper. Failure to do so by the last Sunday of each time
period results in a default by the winner.
- Give the scorekeeper the date, score and
names of the participants. Report scores even if they do not affect
standings so that you remain active and will not be dropped from
the ladder.
- If a match cannot be completed due to weather
conditions, darkness or loss of court time, the match should be
rescheduled at another time, picking up where it was left off.
- Ladder standings can be supplies via email.
- The Code of Conduct and On-Court Rules as
published by the USTA (printed in our Directory) govern all play.
Penalties
- Once on the ladder, if you do not play
during a time period, you will be unranked.
- Any changes involving a scheduled match
that are not made 24 hours prior to the match will result in a
default.
- The decision of the Ladder chairperson on
any questions or protest is final.
Late/No-Show Policy
If one player does not show within 15 minutes of the scheduled
match time, a default results in favor of the player who
did show.
